Have your say on caring issues
Across Australia from the tip of Cape York to South East Cape, from Shark Bay to Byron Bay anyone, anytime can become a carer. We know carers can be your friend, your neighbour, your colleague or in your classroom and we know caring affects carers in many different ways. In 2009, we are focussing on the geographical diversity of carers. Carers come from all walks of life and their experiences and needs are diverse. They can come into their caring responsibilities at anytime throughout their life. This is why we have included a section on this website where you can add your own thoughts on your experiences. Here are the Carers Week 2009 Forum topics. We look forward to receiving your stories.
Living in the Bush This section is to provide carers who live outside the major cities, with the opportunity to let us know their experiences. The positives and the challenges. Carers Australia believes carers should be recognised for the valuable role they play in society. Carers are the foundation of our health and community care system. This is a section for the community to recognise carers and leave messages of support. Caring can impact heavily on the family budget. From the cost of medications and specialists through to the cost of care. This is the place to talk all things money. Tell us the impact caring has had on you financially. Looking after someone can sometimes make it harder for carers to look after their own health and wellbeing. This is the place to talk all things health related. Tell us the impact caring has on your health and wellbeing. Juggling care and work can have its challenges. Coming home from a hard days work only to put your caring hat on is tough. Tell us how you find the balance between work and care or the impact of not participating in the workforce. This is a space for all young carers. During Bring it! 2008 we explored the four key areas for young carers: identification, education, respite and access to government services. Carers Week 2009 is focussing on education- how does being a young carer affect your education? This is an area to discuss Carers Week in general, including sharing your story. Many carers participated in the Have Your Say section during Carers Week 2008 and in the Carers Virtual 2020. If you posted a comment, thank you. We want to continue hearing from you.
