Governor-General launches Carers Week 2009

Her Excellency, Ms Quentin Bryce AC the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia will officially launch Carers Week on Monday 19 October 2009.

Ms Bryce became patron of Carers Australia in 2008 and we appreciate her support for carers.

Carers Day - A day for Carers

Carers Day 2009 will be observed on Tuesday 20 October.

Carers Day is a day for all Australians to think about the contribution of carers in their community and to consider doing something in return for a carer they know. People may wish to take a carer out for a meal or an activity, or they may simply make the effort to spend some time with them or give them a call.

We’re leaving it up to individuals to come up with ways to recognise the essential role of carers in our community.

All across Australia, activities to celebrate Carers Day will be taking place – from large events to small social gatherings.
